AFR Milan is dedicated to the development and manufacturing of Bulk and Thin Film Lithium Niobate components and modulators.
Photonic devices manufacturing in Milan dates back to the 1990s, starting with the LiNbO3 high-speed modulator product line. In 2019, AFR acquired the Milan site along with its intellectual properties, aiming to expand its strong technical and production capabilities to leverage the team's expertise in developing groundbreaking Thin Film Lithium Niobate technology, marking a substantial leap forward in product innovation.
With the increasing demand for modulators, AFR is strategically positioned to seize market opportunities with its versatile product line that spans across telecom, datacom, analog, quantum, satellite, and power laser applications.
To benefit its valued customers, AFR has scaled up its production efficiency by investing in state-of-the-art high volume equipment, underscoring its dedication to maintaining high-quality standards.
These strategic initiatives position AFR to expand both its product line and production scale, leveraging its competitive advantages in technology development, quality control, and market outreach. The AFR Milan facility, comprising R&D labs, a state-of-the-art wafer fab, and module line, is located in San Donato Milanese, Italy.
